ALBANIA IN REVOLT: A ROBBED, IMPOVERISHED AND HELD-HOSTAGE NATION IS DEMANDING FREEDOM!

What is burning is the patience of the Albanian people!

Edi Rama and his government can no longer conceal reality behind propaganda. Corruption scandals, investigations by SPAK, abuses of power and allegations of links between politics and criminal interests have placed the accountability of those in power under intense scrutiny. Albanians are demanding answers, justice and an end to impunity.

While gigantic towers rise across Tirana, students and high school pupils are asking themselves where they will live, where they will work and what kind of future awaits them. They see magnificent buildings but few opportunities to build their own lives. They see wealth accumulating while their families struggle to make ends meet.

This is the eruption of anger accumulated over many years, combined with the pain of citizens confronting the country’s deep political, economic and social crisis.

Students Are Not the Arsonists of Albania!

For four months, citizens have been protesting daily in Tirana. Now, students and high school pupils have joined the broader civic movement. This anger did not emerge overnight, and it cannot be explained away by a few broken windows.

When police forces are misused to exercise violence, provoke confrontations or escalate tensions, responsibility for every action must be investigated and established on the basis of evidence. The police must serve the law and the citizens, not the political interests of those in power.

All students cannot be blamed for the actions of particular individuals, nor should images of isolated incidents be used to conceal the reasons behind a wider civic revolt.

Destruction is when young people are forced to leave their country, when families are separated, when corruption erodes trust in the state, and when citizens can no longer see hope in their own homeland.

A Country Losing Its People and Its Future

Albania’s tragedy extends beyond poverty and emigration. It also concerns property, ancestral lands, public assets and national identity. Albanians have every right to demand accountability for agreements affecting their land, concessions that undermine the public interest, and decisions that put the nation’s wealth at risk.

Albanian lands have been defended with blood throughout the centuries. They must not be treated as bargaining chips in political and economic deals. A government has a duty to create conditions in which Albanians can live and work in their homeland, not drive them towards emigration and normalize the emptying of the country.

When young people leave in large numbers and citizens feel like strangers in their own homeland, the country is facing a crisis that propaganda cannot resolve.

Do Not Divide the Protests to Save Those in Power!

Whenever citizens unite against the government, accusations, confrontations and attempts to divert attention from the heart of the revolt emerge. On social media, claims about conspiracies and foreign agents circulate, while protesters are turned against one another.

But students have not taken to the streets to settle internal political disputes. They are demanding a future, justice and dignity. Any allegation of manipulation or foreign interference must be supported by evidence, not used to intimidate citizens and divide the protest movement.

Resignation Is the Protesters’ Demand

The message coming from the protesters is clear:

Edi Rama’s resignation is non-negotiable!

They are demanding an end to a model of governance they hold responsible for corruption, impoverishment, emigration and the loss of public trust in institutions. They are demanding justice, political accountability and a state that serves its citizens rather than narrow interests.

Albania is not the property of a prime minister, a political party or a privileged group. It belongs to its citizens. No one has the right to hold an entire nation hostage indefinitely when its people are demanding the freedom to live with dignity and hope.

Albania is not being burned by students. Albania is boiling with the anger of a people who refuse to continue living under the weight of injustice!

Citizens exhausted by corruption are rising. Students who do not want to emigrate to secure a future are rising. High school pupils who refuse to inherit the despair of previous generations are rising.

No one can silence this revolt through propaganda, intimidation or division. A people determined to break the chains of modern-day slavery cannot be held hostage forever.

ALBANIA BELONGS TO THE ALBANIANS! THE FUTURE MUST NOT BE HELD HOSTAGE BY THOSE IN POWER!
