Berisha: EU acknowledges the strategic role of the Port of Durrës, Brussels should investigate into Rama’s mega affair

Democratic Party Chairman Sali Berisha appealed to the European Union to investigate into the corruptive mega-affairs of Albanian Premier Edi Rama in the port of Durrës, the strategic role of which is recognized by EU.

Berisha has accused Rama of appropriating millions of square meters to develop with an Emirates company without consulting first with EU and NATO, as this is a strategic port for them.
”For centuries and millennia, the Port of Durrës has given Albania the most important and strategic role in the region. The EU Transport Commission defines the Port of Durrës, along with the Port of Tivar in Montenegro, as one of the two ports of strategic importance for the EU, which is significant for the region and its transport”, Berisha said in a press conference today.

”Edi Rama, without any prior consultation with the citizens of Durrës, with interest groups or anbody else but his pockets and accounts, is transforming the port of Durrës into the Dubai of his family. The Durrës Port affair is the biggest corrupt affair in Europe to this day”, said Berisha.

”In this affair, with serious strategic consequences for the country, with serious consequences aimed at the de-factorization of Albania and its strategic role in EU and NATO transport, Edi Rama and his machinery of lies speak of €2 billion investments in the tourist marina”.

“I call on EU to launch an investigation into the corruption affair of the port of Durrës and to do everything so that this port remains a strategic port for the region and the EU”, said Berisha.
