The part of the work Illyricum Sacrum (ILIRIA KRISHTERE) that deals with church history within the territory of the Albanian state, was tranlated in Albanian (finished in 1963) by Monsignor Frano Ilia.
The volume VII aligns the Christian history and links it with the civil one of the Metropolies of Djoklea, Tivar, Shkodra, Durrës and Sirmi and the suffragans or deceches that depend on them. From this volume and forward, have also been translated the parts that belong to the internal borders of Albania, that is, to Shkodra and Durrës and their suffragans, where the foundation of cities and counties are described, and the Christian and civil history of those places is well linked.
The volume VII itself, covers the historical lands up to the beginning of the XVIII century, when it was also published.
ILLYRICUM SACRUM ~ A multi-volume historical work written in Latin dealing with history of the Catholic Church in the Illyrian Peninsula.
The first five volumes (issued 1751-1775) were authored by Daniele Farlati; the volumes 6 (1800) and 7 (1817), were coauthored by Jacopo Coleti, who also published the last volume in 1819, with the ninth tome printed in the period 1902-1919, as an appendix to Frane Bulić’s, Bulletino di archeologia e storia dalmata.

Note: Monsignor Frano Ilia (in the photo, 1943) was born in the village of Juban in Shkodra, on February 21, 1918. He was ordained a priest on December 18, 1943, and served in Tirana, Shkodra, Milot and its surroundings. In 1967 he was arrested by the sinful communist regime of Albania, and on April 25, 1968 was sentenced to death, which was later commuted to life imprisonment and forced labour. He served as the first Archbishop of Shkodra of the post-communist Albania. He was appointed Bishop of Shkodra and ordained by Pope John Paul II, during his visit to Albania on April 25, 1993.
Monsignor Frano Ilia passed away on this day, 14 years ago (October 22, 1998). May his soul rest in eternal peace.

Pesë vëllimet e para (botuar 1751-1775) u autorizuan nga Daniele Farlati; vëllimet 6 (1800) dhe 7 (1817), ishin bashkëautor nga Jacopo Coleti, i cili gjithashtu botoi vëllimin e fundit më 1819, me tomën e nëntë të shtypur në periudhën 1902-1919, si shtojcë e Frane Bulić-it, Bulletino di archeologia e storia dalmata.
Pjesa e veprës Illyricum Sacrum (ILIRIA KRISHTERE) që trajton historinë e kishës brenda territorit të shtetit shqiptar, është përkthyer në shqip (përfunduar në vitin 1963) nga Imzot Frano Ilia. Vëllimi VII përafron historinë e krishterë dhe e lidh atë me atë civile të Mitropoleve të Gjokleas, Tivarit, Shkodrës, Durrësit dhe Sirmit dhe sufraganëve apo deçeve që varen prej tyre. Nga ky vëllim e në vazhdim janë përkthyer edhe pjesët që i përkasin kufijve të brendshëm të Shqipërisë, pra Shkodrës e Durrësit dhe sufraganëve të tyre, ku përshkruhet themeli i qyteteve dhe qarqeve dhe historia e krishterë e civile e atyre. vendet janë të lidhura mirë. Vetë vëllimi VII, mbulon trojet historike deri në fillim të shekullit XVIII, kur edhe u botua.
Shënim: Imzot Frano Ilia (në foto 1943) lindi në fshatin Juban të Shkodrës, më 21 shkurt 1918. U shugurua meshtar më 18 dhjetor 1943 dhe shërbeu në Tiranë, Shkodër, Milot me rrethinë. . Në vitin 1967 arrestohet nga regjimi mëkatar komunist i Shqipërisë dhe më 25 prill 1968 dënohet me vdekje, e cila më pas u ndryshua me burgim të përjetshëm dhe punë të detyruar. Ai shërbeu si Kryepeshkopi i parë i Shkodrës i Shqipërisë postkomuniste. Ai u emërua ipeshkëv i Shkodrës dhe u shugurua nga Papa Gjon Pali II, gjatë vizitës së tij në Shqipëri më 25 prill 1993.
Imzot Frano Ilia u nda nga jeta në këtë ditë, 14 vjet më parë (22 tetor 1998). Shpirti i tij u preftë në paqe të përjetshme.
