Update: Albanian Family was Arrested at Nordstroms
According to police, the family went to the store twice to steal items.

A father, mother and daughter from Albania are facing burglary charges in Palo Alto after allegedly attempting to steal men’s clothing and an expensive purse from a department store, a spokesman for the Palo Alto Police Department said.
Kosta Barjaba, 52, as well as his wife Fatbardha Barjaba, 52, and their daughter Jonniada Barjaba, 23, were arrested on Dec. 27 after police said they took items from a Nordstrom store at the Stanford Shopping Center, police spokesman Officer Sean Downey said.
The trio entered Nordstrom in the early afternoon and loss prevention observers told police the family left with a bag containing men’s clothing and then returned to the store a second time with the bag, Downey said.
The loss prevention officers watched as one of the Barjabas allegedly purloined a Coach purse worth $238, Downey said.
As the suspects exited the store, loss prevention officers stopped them outside and tried to detain them, Downey said.
The father, Kosta Barjaba, then threw the bag of items back into the store and he and his wife ran away while loss prevention was able to detain the daughter, Downey said.
At about 2 p.m., loss prevention called Palo Alto police who found and arrested the wife and recovered the Coach purse a short distance away from Nordstrom, Downey said.
Police then received a call from a pay phone from the father, who reported his wife and daughter as missing persons, Downey said.
Officers arrested the father after answering his call, Downey said.
The three suspects have been charged with two counts of burglary – one count for each trip they took into the store — and one count each of conspiracy to commit burglary, Downey said.
A person can still be charged with burglary even if they return what they stole, Downey said.
The three suspects were taken to San Mateo County’s Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City and later released on bail, according to a jail clerk.
The three Barjaba family members are all listed as citizens of Albania, but the daughter has an address at Stanford, Downey said.
